Kai ʻĀina Farm
Chef Kai cooks with what the island is offering that week, and a lot of it comes from his farm in the hills of Hāmākua.
Hāmākua is the rainy, green side of the island, above the sea cliffs. What’s ready on the farm goes into his kitchen, so your menu depends partly on the season. What the farm doesn’t grow, he buys from fishermen and growers he knows across the island.
It also means he can tell you where almost everything on the plate came from, and usually who grew it.
Kai ʻĀina Provisions
Provisions is small-batch sauces and pantry goods made from the season’s harvest. You’ll find them at the farmers market.
Follow @chefkaimana for market days and what’s on the table that week.
The Kai ʻĀina Foundation
The farm is also where the Foundation’s Mālama Sessions will happen: days of planting, harvesting, and cooking together, so more people learn to grow and cook from this land.
